Judy Perkins Smith

January 13, 1944 — August 24, 2020

Judy Perkins Smith

Judy Lane Perkins Smith was surrounded by her family when she passed away from her earthly home to be with Jesus and loved ones gone on before her on Monday, August 24, 2020.

Judy was born on January 13, 1944, to Harry and Ruby Perkins. She graduated from Altamahaw-Ossipee High School, where she met the love of her life, Jimmy, and was married for 33 years. Judy loved every day of life and cherished every moment, her most special times were spent with family, weekends with her grandchildren, and attending church gatherings at Berea Christian Church. After Jimmy’s passing, she became a very active member of the Burlington Shag Club, where she made numerous friends and followed her love of dancing. Judy participated in S.O.S and shag club fundraisers. She volunteered with Allied Churches to feed the homeless, mentored young people, and always provided a listening ear to everyone.

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, MeMa, and JuJu, will forever be remembered as a fun-loving, determined lady who always had an optimistic approach to life’s challenges. Judy exemplified this quote, and we would like to share it with you; “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.”

She is survived by her son, Pastor Jeff Smith and wife, Tina; a daughter, Jamie Lynn Smith Ferguson and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Darla Lane Smith, Coleman Ferguson and Winston Ferguson; brothers, Charles Perkins and wife, Nancy and Harold Perkins and wife, Chris; a sister, Karen Hall and husband, Jeff.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, an infant son, Jonathan Smith and a sister, Martha Neibel.

The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jeff Smith and Pastor Chuck Perkins with the burial to follow at Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.  You may come by the funeral home and sign the register book and view the video tribute from 8:00am to 1:45pm Wednesday prior to the service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Authorocare Hospice nurses and staff for all their loving care and compassion that was given to Judy and all their support to the family.

Memorials may be made to Berea Christian Church, 2848 Old, NC 87, Elon, NC 27244 or to the Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
