Burlington - Juanita Anne Cochran Maness, 81, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at UNC Hospital after several years of failing health. She was born on May 14, 1936 in Montgomery County to the late Homer Cochran and Pearl Needham Cochran.
Juanita was a homemaker. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, the Alamance County Home Extension, Red Hat Club, a licensed cosmetologist, loved babysitting, and enjoyed helping others, spending time with friends and family, especially at the beach and mountain getaways. Juanita especially loved her grandchildren and watching her great grandchildren play.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda McPherson and husband, Clarence; sons, Mark Maness and wife, Jean and John Maness; grandchildren, Jeremy, Christina and Aaron Zachary, Matthew and Michael Maness; great grandchildren, Camron, Caden, Zeberiah, Elias and Miriam Zachary; sister, Pattie Stuart and husband, Robert; former husband and friend, Fred J. Maness. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Hilton Cochran and a sister, Frances Longest.
The funeral service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Beacon Baptist Church by Rev. Michael Karns and Bob Latour with the burial to follow at Ether United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45am Tuesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
