Juanita Cooke James, age 86, of Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and the wife of the late Jesse Cabel James. Juanita retired as a LPN at Alamance County Hospital and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Juanita loved cooking Sunday lunch for her family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. Church and her husband, Carl of Graham; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry C. James and his wife, Yvonnie of Burlington and Steve James and his wife, Pete of Burlington; grandchildren and spouses, John Adam Church and his wife, Darleen of Haw River, Hope Church of Virginia, Larry C. James and his wife, Kim of Oakboro, Kent James and his wife, Emily of Gibsonville, April J. Dunn and Husband, Danny of Gibsonville; 4 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cabel James; Father, James P. Cooke and Mother Magdalene R. Cooke Lloyd. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Curtis Oakley. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her son, Steve James, 1325 Carlton Avenue, Indian Valley, Burlington.
