Joyce Gentry Whitt

On the 25th of June, 2024, the world lost a beacon of love and kindness with the passing of Joyce Gentry Whitt. She was born on October 19, 1944, and during her 79 years on this earth, she touched countless lives with her unwavering compassion and devotion to her family.

Joyce's most defining qualities were her caring nature and her deep love for her children, around whom her life revolved. She was known for her nurturing spirit and was always there to offer a comforting embrace or a listening ear to anyone in need. Besides her dedication to her family, Joyce had a special place in her heart for Elvis Presley's music, finding solace and joy in his timeless melodies.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Garland E. Whitt; parents, Joseph F. and Myrtle S. Gentry; and sisters, Grace Overman, Jane Matherly, and Shirley Baity.

She is survived by her children, Amy Allen, Michael Whitt, Bonnie McDonald, and Cindy Williams; grandchildren, Brian Whitt, Misty Bailey, Ricky Coble, Lindsay Coble, Jeff Allen, Jr., Jacob Allen, Jessie Whitt, Keith Mansfield, Axel Wrenn, and Dakota Wrenn; great-grandchildren, Makayla Whitt, Brian Whitt, Jr., Katelyn Whitt, Austin Whitt, Brooklyn Bailey, Logan Bailey, Matthew Allen, Dylan Allen, Hartley Allen, Magnolia Simmons, Ashton Simmons, Scarlett Whitt, Konner Mansfield, Levi Mansfield, Barrett Mansfield, Madyson Bond, Adam Kerr, Justin Kerr, and Skylar Kerr; great-great-grandchildren, Ava Whitt, Axel Whitt, Amelia Whitt, and Kobie Whitt; and sisters, Delma Roberts and Francis Beal.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 9:45 – 10:45 AM at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11 AM in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
