Joyce Mangum Loy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 86.
Joyce was born in Alamance County on March 23, 1939 to Douglas and Ruth Mangum. She and her husband were longtime owners of Treat-Rite Water Services. She was an incredibly loving mother, always present and involved in her children's lives. From sharing her enthusiasm for sports as a softball coach to fostering friendships and skills as a Girl Scout leader, Joyce exemplified what it meant to be a nurturing figure. She loved to scroll through Facebook, catching up on the day’s events and what was going on with her friends and family. She also found immense joy in spending time at the ocean with her family, where laughter and precious moments were created. Whether fishing from the shore or boat to clamming in the tide pools, she was always most at peace when with her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Forrest Dalton Loy, her sons, Gregory Loy and Michael Loy, and her daughter, Donna Loy.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Daher and husband Alan; her grandchildren, Hollie Troy, Melissa Ingle, Forrest Walker, Jocelyn Lekkerkerker, Bryan Schields, Ricky Daher, Kris Loy, Christina Schields, and Nic Loy; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Jeanette Boggs; nieces, Robin Hardin, Ginny Olson, and Beth Lufkin; and nephews, Barry Loy, Tom Loy, and Stephen Loy.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
