Joyce Jones

Joyce Sutton Jones died peacefully in her home at the age of 81 on February 17, 2022. Never alone, she was supported by her loving family, friends, and faithful prayer partners and the greatest of all Jesus, her Comforter and constant Friend.

Born in Greenville, NC on November 27, 1940. Joyce enjoyed 81 years beginning with a wonderful childhood influenced first and foremost by her devoted parents as well as numerous Catholic educators, dedicated nursing leaders and wise health care management scholars who mentored her through a successful nursing management career that culminated in 50 years filled with a passion for the most excellent patient care!  God is the Healer and Redeemer but Joyce’s prayers have been that those she served would feel the touch through the gifts God gave her. Especially included in her life were ministers and other significant religious leaders who have shepherded her with their firm foundation in the Word.

Joyce’s spiritual family includes the women of the Greensboro day class, Bible Study Fellowship as well as her brothers and sisters such the "WOW" ladies at Lawndale Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC. Also close to Joyce's heart were her Honduran family and church at Cataluna under the excellent leadership of Pastor Julio Pacheco.

Joyce was blessed to receive many earthly awards and accolades throughout her youth and adult life related to her volunteer efforts and long nursing career. However, she desired for her children and grandchildren to know her ultimate reward was a life lived in relationship with Jesus Christ and the joy she has found knowing she is glorifying Him forever. Joyce desired for her children to also see life with the same joy and positive attitude she had hoped to exemplify.

She is survived by her two wonderful children, Holly Elizabeth Jones, Christopher Perry Sutton Jones (Amie’), four grandchildren, Justin Beinkie Bennett, Rebecca Ramos (Johnathan), Caroline and Perry Jones as well as seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Freda Kovalchick.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 11 AM at Lawndale Baptist Church, 3505 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, with Dr. Jon Boiling officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private interment of the urn will take place at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC at a later date.
