Burlington, NC Joyce Rushin Cheek, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Opelika, Alabama and was the wife of 25 years to Willie Eugene Cheek who survives. Joyce was employed for over 30 years with Seventh Wave Labs. She was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church where she was a former Youth Leader and Sunday School teacher. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Willie E. Cheek of the home, daughters, Tracy McCloud and her husband, Butch of Burlington, Teresa Leavens and her husband, Ross of Cary, Tammy Hinshaw and her husband, Kerrry of Columbia, SC; sons, Greg McCormick and Michael Cheek and his wife , Tammy all of Burlington; grandchildren, Cassandra McCloud, Miranda McCloud, Michael Cheek, Jr., Isaac Leavens, Matthew Cheek, Zackary McCormick, Madeline McCormick, Elliott Leavens and Conner McCloud; sister, Betty McCormick of Opelika, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Thomas and Georgia Lee Rushin. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Delton Agnor and Rev. Bennie Smith. The entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 pm on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
