Joyce "Skip" Taylor Brown, age 81, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Kentwood Nursing Home in Augusta, Georgia. She was born in Elizabeth City, NC on May 5, 1929 the oldest of six children. Skip was the wife of the late Joe David Brown who was killed in action during the Vietnam War. After the death of her husband in 1968 she resided in Augusta, GA and raised her three children. Joyce worked for many years at Security National Bank and was a 1947 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of Flemming Christian Church in Augusta, GA. Survivors include her sons, Joseph David Brown, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Martinez, GA., Robert Keith Brown of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Julia Elizabeth Brown of Massoula, MT.; grandchildren, Joseph David Brown, III, of Baltimore, MD, Brian Keith Brown and Laura Ann Brown both of Martiniez, GA.; sisters, Judith Taylor Jarrett of Haw River; Gwen Taylor Foster of Burlington; brother, Max Chandler Taylor and wife Pat of Haw River and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great , great, niece and nephew; numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Robert Lee Taylor and Inez Perry Taylor; brothers, Robert and Jerry Taylor. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Michael Brown of Burlington Assembly of God and burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the sister's home, 1416 Overbrook Road, Burlington, NC.
