Joseph "J.B." Wright

Joseph “J.B.” Benjamin Wright, 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Alamance County on July 22, 1936 to the late John Houston Wright and Sarah Agnes Wiles Wright, and was the husband of 61 years to the late Hazel Alice Payne Wright who died in 2017.

J.B. retired after 42 years with Burlington Industries.  J.B. and his wife, Hazel formerly worked together with Window Treatment Installation for several local contractors.  Through the years Hazel and J.B. enjoyed going to the Barn Dance in Julian and after she passed J.B. continued to go to be with his friends.  He was a US Army veteran and a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wright Lightcap and husband, Jeff; his beloved canine, “Niki” and his numerous four-legged grandchildren; a special niece and several nephews, and many special friends.  J.B. was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Jerry William Wright.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Farron Duncan and Rev. Jimmy Nickelston with the burial to be in Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors.  J.B. will be available for viewing on Friday from 12pm to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 1:45pm prior to the service.  The family request anyone attending the service to dress casually and wear jeans because Dad insisted it be a casual service.  The family will be at Lisa and Jeff’s home.

The family would like to express their appreciation for all the love, compassion and kindness that they received from their family, friends, neighbors and caregivers who were there for J.B. during his illness and Lisa and Jeff when they needed them.
