Joseph Franklin Myers, 84, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Chase City, VA, he was the son of the late Charlie and Minnie Cauldle Myers and was married to over 64 years to Carolyn Ann Cline Myers, who survives.
Joe retired as a Master Sargeant from the U.S. Air Force after over 22 years of service, including two tours in Vietnam as well as time in countless other countries. He loved serving his country and was proud to be able to do so for so many years. After retirement, he moved back to North Carolina to be closer to family and worked for Thompson Aurthur in Greensboro for many years.
Joe graduated from Bessemer High School in Greensboro before deciding to join the military. He was an active member of Gospel Baptist Church in Gibsonville. He was also a member of the local Masonry as well as Shrine Club. Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed being an umpire for the local school’s football, basketball and baseball teams when living in Mississippi. His favorite past time though, was being able to spend time with his family and supporting their interest and hobbies.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Myers, daughter; Melissa Johnson and her husband Ryan, son; Brian Myers and his wife Autumn Marie Hedgecock Myers, grandchildren; Haylee Marie Arnold and husband Conner, Jayden Johnson, Payten Johnson, London Ashton-Grace Owen and husband, Peter and Sterling Townsend Myers, great grandchildren; Annistyn Mae Arnold and Adaelise Owen. As well as sisters; Clara Hinson, Carolyn Burton and Louella Rhodes and a brother; Jimmy Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Minnie Myers and a brother; Charles Myers.
A funeral service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 15, 2024 in the chapel at Lowe Funeral Home by Pastor Ken Goins and Pastor David Morris with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the funeral home.
