Joseph Moss

Elon, NC Joseph "Joe" Moss, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Madison and was the husband of the late Audrey Spivey Moss. Joe was a licensed plumbing contractor and pipe fitter working for P & H Mechanical and PI both located in Greensboro. He attended Brightwood Christian Church and was a veteran of the US Army and the US Navy. He was a graduate of Burlington Business College. Joe was a key component of Moss Motor Sports and a member of the ISCAR Racing Series, formerly known as the Goodies Dash Series which raced at various tracks throughout the southeast. Joe enjoyed fishing and was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his daughter, Angie M. Strange of Gibsonville and his sons, Gary L. Moss and his wife, Tammy of Carthage, Joel Dean Moss of Gibsonville and Darryl D. Moss and his wife, Wendy of Reidsville; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; special companion of 19 years, Marie Riggs of Graham and his former wife, Irma Foust of Gibsonville; sisters, Mary Ruth Rhine of SC and Janie Reynolds of TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Spivey Moss; mother, Bettie Lou Moss; infant daughter, Tammy Moss; sister, Carolyn Lucas; brothers, Charlie and Paul Lucas and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Moss. The Moss family would like to thank Dr. Choksi and his staff at the Cancer Center and the nurses and staff of Hospice for their compassionate care of Joe. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Brightwood Christian Church by Rev. Ricky Cox and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
