Joseph King

Burlington, NC Joseph Robert "Bob" King, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at White Oak Manor. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 39 years to the late Virginia Urquhart King who died in 2012. Bob retired after 22 years from the US Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during WW II and during the Korean War. He was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his step daughter, Brenda King of Newport, NC and a step son, James G. Baker and his wife, Lisa of Kernersville; step grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Melissa Baker and Kendra King; grandchildren, Karen Greg McGann and Leslie Jason Haizlip; great grandchildren, Kyle Haizlip, Chyenne Haizlip and Tala McGann; brother, James Edwin King, Jr. and wife, Freida of Burlington; nieces, Peggy and Bobbie King; nephew, Mike King and wife, Jane. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Joseph Robert King, Jr.; parents, James Edwin King and Hulda Fredrick King and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph Elbert King and his wife, Elizabeth. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Mitchell. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
