Joseph DiCostanzo

Haw River - Joseph DiCostanzo, 71, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at his home. He was born in Durham County on October 31, 1946 to the late Nestore and Mary Wood Thompson DiCostanzo.

Joseph served in the US Army during Vietnam while being stationed in Germany. He attended Blessed Sacrament Church where he taught Sunday School and was the manager of Christian Family Living Center in Topsail Beach, NC. He was an avid UNC fan, loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Joseph Nestore DiCostanzo and wife Meredith; daughter, Dee Wood and husband Michael; grandsons, Joe Wood, Kent DiCostanzo and Zachary DiCostanzo; granddaughters, Caroline Wood and Lilly Wood; sisters, Gloria Van Dam, Martha DiCostanzo and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held 10:30am on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Thomas Moore in Chapel Hill, officiated by Father Kane, with the inurnment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067-6411.
