Joseph Ray "JB" Barbee, 38, passed away on March 31, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1986, in Alamance County to Chris Barbee and Angela Lacks Barbee, who survive.
Joseph was a rollback driver for TNT towing for many years. Beyond his career, Joseph had a multitude of interests that brought him joy. He had a deep passion for working on cars and was even in the process of building his own racecar. He loved spending time with his family and friends, considering them an extension of his own family and his beloved "little girl," Millie, who held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed going to the racetrack to watch and sometimes participate in races.
Joseph will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends, including his father; Chris Barbee, mother; Angela Barbee, brother; Nathan Barbee, uncles; Brad Lacks, Randy (Bonnie) Barbee, Roger Barbee, Chuck Loy; aunts; Kim Stevens and Pam Barbee; grandmother Sandra Griffin; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; Floyd Lacks, maternal grandmother; Wilma Lacks, paternal grandfather; Bobby Barbee, paternal grandmother; Lucille Lafferty (Harold), uncles; Tracy Barbee, Greg Barbee, Jeff Loy.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Moses Cone Hospital for their compassionate care of Joseph during his time there.
A graveside service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Shallow Ford Christian Church Cemetery by Pastor Darrell Massey. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 at Lowe Funeral Home prior to processing to the cemetery.
