José Luis Cuyar-Fernandez

José Luis Cuyar-Fernandez, 72, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1952 in Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Cuyar and Isabel Fernandez, and was the husband to Migdalia Rodriguez-Suarez who survives.

 José retired after 29 years as a general surgeon in Puerto Rico. He and Migdalia have spent over 43 years together and was married for 23 of those. They moved to North Carolina after José retired. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to wine tastings, reading, listening to music, an art collector, and traveling. But most of all, José loved spending time with his family.

 He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Migdalia Rodriguez-Suarez; a brother, Alfredo Cuyar and wife Annie; four nephews and three nieces; and his brother-in-law, Nelson Rodriguez and wife Maricarmen. José was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Francisco Cuyar, Alvaro Fernandez and Jorge Fernandez.

 The memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Reid Dickens.
