John Wright

Elon-John Alfred Wright, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at The Cottage at Blakey Hall. He was born in Caswell County to the late Thomas Stroud and Annie Sue Rainey Wright. He was the husband of the late June Cheek Wright.
Alfred retired from United Food Commercial Workers Union and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Alfred attended First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and was a Master Mason with the Bula Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed furniture refinishing and working with antique clocks. Alfred was an avid Tar Heel fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son, Jay Wright and wife, Beth of Greensboro and a daughter, Jane Byrd of Burlington; grandchildren, Ryan Dunn and wife, Kim, David Dunn, Hannah McCaslin and husband, Jake and Megan Wright; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Addison, Carleigh and Bryson; sisters, Francis Petty of Mebane, Hazel Thomas of Burlington, Ann Maynard of Burlington, Edna Faircloth of California; brothers, Charlie Wright of Elon, Rufus Wright of Broadway and Larry Wright of Mebane. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brothers, Wilbur, Carl and Ed Wright.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Blakey Hall and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care for Alfred.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Robinson with military honors provided by the US Army. A private burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45PM on Friday at the funeral home.
