John Winstead

John Eugene Winstead, age 94, of 210 Apple St. passed away Friday June 4, 2010 at the home of his daughter in Summerville, SC. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Willey W. and Alice Winstead and husband of the late Mabel hales Winstead. He was a retired supervisor at Burlington Industries Williamsburg Plant and an avid fisherman and a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his daughter Carlton Sheridan of Summerville, SC; half sister, Colene Tearce; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, children, Verone Robaczewski, Eugene Winstead and John Winstead; 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday June 9, 2010 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park will military honors. Mr. Winstead will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-10:45 am Wednesday, prior to the service.
