John Stevenson

Durham - John Randall "Randy" Stevenson, 38, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home. Randy was born in Alamance County on June 25, 1979 to John Robert Stevenson and Becky Compton Stevenson who survive.

Randy enjoyed life fully and with enthusiasm. He was a member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church; he earned his Eagle in Boy Scouts by erecting the marquee, bricking two sidewalks and landscaping the area at his former elementary school, Grove Park. He wrestled for four years at Williams High School and played football in his senior year - always a Bulldog. After spending the summer at Appalachian for a wrestling camp, he decided to attend Appalachian where he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity and received his degree in Industrial Technology and Construction. A love for cooking led him to earn a Culinary Degree from ACC. His mom never had to cook a holiday meal, thanks to Randy's culinary expertise.

Randy loved his family and his friends with a big heart, a sense of humor and an unforgettable smile. His laugh and his hugs will be missed but never forgotten by all who love him.

Survivors other than his parents, John and Becky Stevenson include his brother and sister-in-law, Justin Robert and Caroline Kodetsky Stevenson; nephews, Alex and Carter Stevenson; aunts and uncles, Betty Ann Thomas, Lillie Mae Bennett, Linda and Leary Tucker, Patty and Sammy Carter, Glenda Jeanne and Ronnie Davis, Joy Cromwell, Pat and Rick Cooley, Bill and Dawn Compton, Donnie and Cindy Compton, Ken and Charlene Compton, Jim and Terri Compton; godparents, Tommy and Lucy Smith; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Nannie Mae Garrison Compton; paternal grandparents, Raymond "R.D." and Bessie Maude King Stevenson; a cousin, Nikki Compton.

The celebration service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Robinson. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel and other times at the home of the parents.
