John Knight Steelman, 62, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Hospice Home after three months of failing health. He was born in Alamance County to the late Isaac Flay Steelman and Hazel Aileen Knight Steelman. John was the owner and President of Steelman Refractory Solutions, LLC. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the Chancel Choir, a former deacon, former elder and he really enjoyed his Tuesday morning bible study group. John was an avid Tarheel Fan and a Rams Club Member since 1979. Survivors include his brother, William "Bill" Steelman; nephew, Evan T. Steelman; niece, Mia Renae Steelman; sister-in-law, Melanie Ann Steelman and a host of first and second cousins, aunts and uncles. The graveside service will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Alamance Memorial Park with the funeral service to follow at 4:00pm at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Ron Shive. The family will receive friends with a reception following the service at the church in the Calvin Hall. At other times the family will be at the brothers' home. The Steelman family would like to say "Thank You" to the staff at White Oak Manor for all their loving care that was shown to John during his illness.
