John Shoe, Sr.

Burlington, NC John Anderson Shoe, Sr. 74, of 2105 Combs Street went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2005 at the hospice home. He was a native of Alamance County and married for 51 years to Sylvia Rudd Shoe who survives. John was employed with May Hosiery, J. Spencer Love, J.P. Stevens and he retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Elon. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he was an avid sports fan. John was a veteran serving in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Rudd Shoe of the home; daughter, Celeste J. Shoe of Burlington; son and daughter-in-law, John A. Ande Shoe, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Burlington; granddaughter, Paige N. Shoe of Graham and step granddaughter, Lindsey T. Jeffries and her husband, Brad of Brown Summit; sisters, Mable S. Inge and Myrtle S. Inge both of Burlington; Christine S. Teague and her husband, Charles of Elon; Evelyn S. Wheeley and her husband, Wilton of Durham, Barbara S. Saunders and her husband, Leonard S. Junior Saunders, Jr. of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee and Emily May Sharpe Shoe; brothers, Louis H. Shoe and C. Elmo Shoe. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Huffines and assisted by Rev. John Shields. The burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the 82nd Airborne from Ft. Bragg. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
