John Shoe, Jr.

John William "J.W." Shoe, Jr., 84, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 6, 1930 in Guilford County to the late John Williams Shoe, Sr. and Alma Greeson Shoe and was the husband to Mary Faydean Baize "Faye" Shoe for 66 years. J.W. was the owner and operator of Shillelagh Golf Club for 40 years. He was a former brick mason and farmer, a US Army veteran and a member of Brick Reformed Church. J.W. was a "Giver" he enjoyed helping his neighbors and his community. Survivors other than his wife, Faye include a son, Christopher Lynn Shoe; two granddaughters and one great granddaughter; sisters, Lillie Mae Lane and husband, Pete, Ruth Noah and Betty Phillips, and his life long friend, Bill Pegg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John William Shoe III. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Riddle. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30am to 12:45pm Saturday at the Funeral Home and other times at the home.
