John Charles Richardson, 91, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his residence at Twin Lakes Community in Burlington. He was born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin on June 7, 1931 to the late Curtis Rand and Gertrude Blotz Richardson and was the husband of 59 years to Nancy Joslyn Richardson who survives.
John was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War. He worked as a mechanical engineer at GE for 35 years and upon retirement, he worked in maintenance for the YMCA of Chapel Hill. He co-owned The Bookie, Books and Toys, in Skaneateles, NY; was a member of the Rotary Club of Skaneateles NY and Chapel Hill; and he was very active in the Twin Lakes Community serving in many capacities. John was a skilled woodworker and whittler and simply enjoyed fixing things. He was a problem solver, often challenging himself with things like puzzles and learning to play the harmonica, hand bells and the dulcimer. He enjoyed music, sailing, traveling and model trains with his son and grandson. John enjoyed life as a whole, knowing just when to be funny and when to be serious. He loved going to church and was a very social individual, often sparking up conversation and creating laughter with whomever he was with. Most of all, John loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his wife Nancy Joslyn Richardson; his daughters, Katie R. Moravec (husband Dan Jr.) and Abby R. Versace (husband Craig); grandchildren, Meagan Moravec Morris (husband Jordan), Connor Moravec, and Joey, Alaina and Mia Versace. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Paul Richardson; and a sister, Anne Richardson Voegeli.
