John Mitchell

John Michael "Mike" Mitchell, 57, of Windham Ave. passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his home. He was born in Alamance County to the late John Franklin and Betty Welch Mitchell and was married for 38 years to Janie Mitchell who survives. Mike was a guitar picker, he enjoyed working with wood and was a "brother of the heart" to many. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of the home, son, Joshua Michael Mitchell of the home; sister, Doris Mitchell of Lexington and brother, Joey Mitchell of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin brother, Ikey Mitchell. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bennie Smith with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Alamance County Veterans Service Office, 217 College St., Graham, NC 27253.
