John Michael

Dr. John Donald Michael, 88, of 1266 Westbrook Ave died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his residence. Dr. Michael was born May 28, 1923 in Davidson County to the late John Alexander Michael and Mona Davis Michael. He was a retired optometrist, a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Crusade Bible Class, and a U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Grace Allred Michael; two daughters, Judy Gooch and her husband Greg of Jasper Missouri, and Ellen Bowen and her husband Bob of Gibsonville; seven grandchildren, Valerie Bowen, Christine Hall, Robert E. Bowen III, Stacey Yon, Caryn Blevins, Laura Gooch, and Raymond Gooch; five great grandchildren, Athena Hall, C. J. Hall, Lexi Gooch, McKenzie Blevins, and Zachary Blevins; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Salter and Rev. Greg Gooch officiating. The entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Bonnie, Beverly, and Wanda from Hospice for there special care they gave to Dr. Michael.
