John Lynch, Jr.

John David Lynch, Jr. age 70, of 201 N. First Street went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his beach home in Shallotte, N. C. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late John David Lynch and Mabel Ray Lynch who survives. John was the owner and operator of Rem-Tex Draperies in Haw River and a member of Mebane United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Duke University receiving degrees in English and Personnel Management. He was nominated for the Whos Who In America at Duke University. He also attended Rutgers University before being drafted into the US Army Intelligence Corps obtaining the rank of sergeant. John was the current president of the Mebane Historical Society and he enjoyed being involved in the community. Survivors include his mother, Mabel Ray Lynch of Mebane; brother and sister-in-law, James R. Smokey Lynch and his wife, Sarah of Mebane; nieces and spouses, Melissa Holland and her husband Rob, Wynenda Riggs and her husband, David; two great nieces and two great nephews; one step great nephew. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Farmer and Rev. Tommy Loftis. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the brothers home; 907 S. Fifth Street, Mebane, NC 27302.
