John Kearns

John Recil Kearns, age 83 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Randolph County and the husband of 50 years to Patricia "Pat" Nelson Kearns who survives. John retired from Sears after 40 years of service and was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. John enjoyed gardening and especially growing tomatoes which he gave away to family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband , father and grandfather spending many hours with his grandchildren and their activities. He was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his wife of 50 years. Patricia "Pat" Nelson Kearns of the home; son, John Kearns and his wife, Alicia of Burlington; daughter, Susan Kearns Anderson and husband, Jeff of Mebane and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis and Floy Kearns Long and numerous siblings. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rodger Roach with burial at Alamance Memorial Park with honors provided by the US Air Force.. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
