John Hester

Mr. John Alvis Hester, age 52, of Greensboro NC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15th 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem NC. John was born in Alamance County on January 17, 1959 to Johnny and Callie Mae Hester. He was the husband of Norma Ratliff Hester who was his best friend and they shared a unique and genuine love of 32 years. John was a 1977 graduate of Eastern Alamance High School and was a reservist in the US Marine Corps for several years. Known for his dependability and strong work ethic, he was a former NC State Trooper and was employed as a team leader at Qualicaps Inc in Whitsett, NC for nearly 17 years. John was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin and uncle. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Norma Ratliff Hester of the home, his mother Callie Mae Hester and his sister Carolyn McEachern Leo of Mebane NC, and his in-laws Don RatliffMillicent of Mebane, James Ratliff and Patricia Ratliff of Saxapahaw, and Magaline Poteat of Burlington. He loved and adored being an uncle to his nephews Darin, Shawn and Antoine Ratliff and his niece Renita. He will forever be remembered and loved by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Hester. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Brother Larry Taylor, Minister of Community Church of Christ and Pastor Mark A. Faucette, Sr. of Rehoboth Christian Center will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the service on Tuesday.
