Burlington, NC John William "Jack" Fraser, age 85, of Allison Court passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Burlington, Vermont and he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred "Millie" Keller Fraser. He was the son of Duncan Fraser and Ruth Buckley Fraser, both deceased. John was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Phillipines during World War II and achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. John was an electrical engineer for the Naval Dept. of the US Government, General Electric, AVCO, A T & T, and Western Electric, and served as a Water Plant Operator for the City of Burlington. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and spending time on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. He was a member of First Christian United Church of Christ. In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his son, Bruce D. Fraser and his wife, Barbara of Raleigh; daughter, Margaret F. Clark and her husband, MMCM SS USN Ret. Paul Clark of Loudon, TN; son, John K. Fraser and his wife, Jane of Burlington and grandchildren, Anne Fraser, Michael Fraser, MM3 USN David W. Fraser and his wife, Lisa, Seth Fraser and Lydia Fraser deceased. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. J. L. Williams. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to New Directions International, P O Box 2347, Burlington, NC 27216 for Haiti Relief Fund.
