John Fields

Burlington, NC John Lewis Fields, age 77, of Carolina Road went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the home of his daughter on Moore's Chapel Cemetery Road. He was a native of Aiken County, SC. John retired from Copland Fabrics after 40 years and attended Glencoe Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed classic country music. John spent many happy hours watching old western movies and he never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Howell and her husband, Bobby of Elon, Kathy Kimrey and her husband, Ray of Burlington, Sheila Seamster and her husband, David of Burlington and Deborah Davis and her husband, Bobby of Snow Camp; son, Ernest "Bo" Fields and his wife, Katie of Graham; special grandson, Timothy Chad Fields; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Manus Fields; former wife, Irene Fields; son, Timothy Mark Fields; great grandchild, Dalton Ivey and his parents, Charlie Wilson and Margaret Walker Fields. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glencoe Baptist Church by Pastor Darrell Massey and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the homes of his daughters, Deborah Davis on Moore's Chapel Cemetery Road in Snow Camp and Kathy Kimrey on Flora Avenue in Burlington. Memorials may be made to Glencoe Baptist Church, 2556 Glencoe Street, Burlington, NC 27217.
