John Daniel Constantine, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John C. Constantine and Alice Marie Mulhearn. John was the husband of 32 years to Peggy Joan Fidler Constantine who survives him.
He retired from Time Warner Telecommunications as the manager at the Time Life Building in New York. John was a US Air-force veteran. He was very active at Saint Patrick’s Church in Bayshore, NY teaching CCD, taking the Eucharist to patients in hospitals, Pre-Cana, Teams of Our Lady, and was always available when Father Joe Staudt called upon him.
When John and Peggy moved to North Carolina in 1999 they joined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. John joined the Knights of Columbus; he taught CCD and became a minister of hospitality. He worked hard to raise money for the new church and carried the Eucharist to the homebound. John enjoyed gardening, reading, going to the beach and traveling with his wife Peggy each year to celebrate their anniversary.
His survivors include his wife, Peggy their children, Jennifer Licari, Michael Constantine, Anthony Traficante and wife Kathy, Patti Timm and husband Chris, Peggy Bakey and husband Tom; his grandchildren, Sean, Joseph, Dominic, Angelo, Sara (Mateo), Richie, Anthony “AJ”, Robert (Marissa), Salvatore, Thomas (Layla), Ryan, Brandon, Geneva, Joe, Don (Christine), Jennifer and Marcia; great grandchildren, Mario, Liam, Julian, Robert, Javin, Noah, Natalie, Cole and Kash; sisters, Cathy Jourdan and Mary Alice Hoffman and husband Kenneth; numerous loved nieces and nephews; and his canine companion “Sassy” and feline companions, “Smokey” and “Skoot”. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Constantine; sons, John Andrew Constantine, James Constantine and Robert Constantine; a sister, June Heim; and a beloved niece, Patrice Jourdan.
A memorial mass to celebrate the life of John will be held at 11:00 Am Friday July 5, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Father Vincent Rubino with a reception to follow in the St. Francis Room. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 10:45am prior to the service.
