John "J.W." Bryant, 91 of Holland Ave. passed away Thursday September 4, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mary Rudd Bryant and the son of the late William Edward and Lillian Saul Bryant. "J.W." retired from Burlington Industries after 47 years of service and was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church. He was a former Deacon, Choir member and Sunday School Teacher at the church and he was known for the music he shared with others. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years. "J.W." was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his daughter Sylvia Harris and her husband John of Burlington, grandchildren, Melanie Nichols and her husband Greg of Gibsonville, Jan Baker and her husband Henry of Garner, David Harris and his wife Karen of Burlington, great grandchildren, Jacob Baker, John-Abbott Baker, Erin Nichols, Grayson Harris and Daniel Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers. The funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Sunday at Eastlawn Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Joyner. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:15 to 2:15 PM Sunday at the church prior to the service and at other times at the daughter's home 605 Oakdale Ct. Burlington. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Alamance County, 508 W. Davis St., Burlington, NC 27215.
