Gibsonville, NC John Whitney Whit Allison, age 89, of 4305 McIntyre Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of 64 years to Aileen Cook Allison who survives. John was a self-employed carpenter for over 35 years. He was a member of the Johnson Baptist Church in Browns Summit and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. John served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre and in North Africa. He enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of the home, Aileen Cook Allison; son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Sylvia Chrismon Allison of Browns Summit; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Gina and Keith Travis of Yanceyville; grandchildren, Ranee Skeeter Pender, Mike Hyder, Jeff Hyder and Melanie Puckett; seven great grandchildren; brother, Lacy Allison of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Mary Holt Allison; daughter, LaVelle Allison Phillippie; great grandson, Lowell Hyder; sisters, Bronnie Shipe and Hycinth Bagwell; brothers, Walter, Holt, Reid, Paul and Henry Allison. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Andrews and the burial will follow with military honors provided by the RCHG at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
