Burlington - Joel Wayne Maness, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of the late Wilbert Maness and Malissa Phillips Maness. Wayne was married for 48 years to Linda Grant Maness, who survives. He was a hard-working, honest man who loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a veteran, having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving with the U. S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam era. Wayne was co-owner and operator of Maness Brothers Inc. for 25 years and more recently worked for Triangle Grading. He was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and church greeter. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; children, Wendy M. (Anthony) Lane of Graham, Tina M. (Brian) Vaughn of Pittsboro, and Jason Maness of Mebane; nine grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Rudd of Burlington and a brother, Roger (Priscilla) Maness of Burlington.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
