Joe Smithey

Mr. Joe Harvey Smithey, age 72, of Graham, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his residence after several months of failing health.

Born in Rockingham County, he was the son of the late Joe James Smithey and the late Ruby Paschal Smithey and was married for over 44 years to Mrs. Teresa Gerringer Smithey, who survives.  Joe retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery after 30 years of service, was of the Baptist faith and loved to go fishing.

Mr. Smithey is survived by his wife of the home; his son, Gary Smithey and wife, Chrystal; two grandchildren, Gavin Smithey and Chandler Webster; three sisters, Betty Smith, Billie Jean Barrett and Judy Bowes; a brother, Bobby Smithey; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Smithey, Paul Smithey and Wade Smithey.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 19, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ernie Keck.  Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 Monday morning prior to the service at the funeral home.
