Joe Gaines

Joe A. Gaines, 76, of Graham, NC, passed away at home on July 21, 2021.  Joe was born on December 29, 1944 in Frankfort, Kentucky to Kenneth Gaines and Mae Jewel Smith Gaines.  He is survived by his wife, Maureen; daughter, Dorriea (Daniel) Murphy; son, Kent Gaines; step children, Susan (Todd) Benzer and Daniel (Kimberly) Wager; eight grandchildren; thirteen siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the United States Air Force Intelligence with honor. After his military service, he became an insurance claims adjuster then executive for over fifty years. He was widely respected throughout his industry.

He was a beloved husband of thirty five years, cherished father and trusted friend to so many.  He loved life, enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with family and friends.  He was fun, generous, kind and saw the best in everyone. He loved his garden, bird watching and traveling. He loved to joke and was a great storyteller.   He will be sorely missed by many.
