Joann Robertson Isley

Joann Robertson Isley, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 12, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on July 31, 1937 in Alamance County to the late Harvey Arthur Robertson and Pattie Jane Baldwin Robertson and was married to the late Larry Richard Isley who died in 2001.

Joann retired after 45 years with Glen Raven Mills.  She enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, was an avid NASCAR fan, she enjoyed working in her flower beds and was a member of St. Mark’s Church.  Joann was such a generous person in helping others in need, contributing to Straight Life Pentecostal Church in Cordele, GA, North Elementary in Roxboro and E.M. Holt Elementary.  She was a mission worker in every capacity.  After retirement she loved traveling with the “Retreads”, her close friends on different trips.

Joann is survived by her daughters, Lori Isley Swaney and Amy Isley; adopted daughter, Janice Rager; great God son, Mathew Eads; step granddaughters, Tonia Swaney and Holly Maness; step great grandchildren, Jeremy Thompson, Josh Thompson, Logan Maness and Nathan Maness; a sister, Wilma Loy; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Tony Swaney; sisters, Margaret Huffman and Becky Hyder; brothers, Arthur and Desmond Robertson.

The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Disher with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the Hospice Care Providers and to Joann’s caregivers, Katrina, Michele, Rosa, Laura, Jackie, Shirley, Diana and Dee, for all of their compassion and loving care that was shown to Joann during her illness.
