Joan Stephenson

Mrs. Joan Carol Farley Stephenson, age 58, of 297 Woodland Dr. Elon passed away on Sunday October 23, 2005 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Shady Spring, W.VA, she was wife of Rev. Robert W. Bob Stephenson and daughter of Willie Berman Farley, Jr. and the late Regina Dell Sweeney Farley. She was employed as a Business Manager with IBM and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Rev. Robert W. Bob Stephenson of the home; son, Mark W. Stephenson of Burlington; father, Willie Berman Farley, Jr. of Daniels, W. VA.; brothers, Wayne D. Farley and wife, Brenda of Shady Spring, W.VA; and Norman R. Farley and wife Sandra of Canton, OH. She was preceded in death by her mother. Joan was committed to her faith in Jesus Christ and found the greatest joy in serving others. With limited formal musical training, Joan became an accomplished pianist serving for over 43 years as pianist in four different churches. She approached any task given her, whether in the business place or church with the highest level of commitment possible, completing each task as if God were her supervisor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Riverside Baptist Church in Graham by Rev. Bill Rice and Rev. Curtis Oakley. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6-8 PM Tuesday and at other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church PIF Fund; 1568 E.
