Joan Barker

Haw River-Joan Jones Barker, 73, went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 24, 1943 to the late William B. Jones, Sr. and Iola Boggs Jones.
Joan was a member of Straightway Baptist Church. She worked in child care and loved all her babies. She touched so many lives and was the most giving and loving person.
Joan married her best friend and love of her life Curtis Wayne Barker on June 29, 1962. They spent 54 glorious years together and God truly blessed them. They have 4 wonderful daughters, Wendy (Tim) Allbritton, Donna (Darin) Terrell, Angie (Eric) Kerns and Tammy (Jerry) Sparrow; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are brothers, William "Bony" Jones and James Jones and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Allen Jones and sister, Sue Payne.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for all their care and support for Joan and her family.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel and the burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
