Jo Short

BURLINGTON- Mrs. Jo Ellen Stallings Short, age 75, of Garden Rd., passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at her home after a sudden illness. Born in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Robert Stallings and the late Lila Mae Speight Stallings and was married to Joseph Short, who survives. Mrs. Short retired from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work and was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Short is survived by her husband of the home; a brother, Larry Michael Stallings and his wife, Mary Lou, of Marietta, GA; three step daughters, Penny Rai Short and Paige S. Boyette both of Durham and Lori S. Grafton and her husband, Michael, of Haw River; and two grandchildren, Harley and Haley Grafton. There will be a memorial service at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/donate.
