Jimmy Somers

Jimmy Garland Somers, age 62, formerly of Underwood Rd., died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Jefferson Family Care after a sudden illness. A native of Caswell County, he was the son of the late James Burch "Jim" Somers and the late Clarice Marie Lewis Somers. He was a former employee of Mabry Industries and attended Altamahaw Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Somers is survived by a daughter, Amy S. Willoughby and her husband, Vaughn, of Elon; a son Mark Christopher Somers and his wife, Kristie, of Marion, NC; two grandchildren, George Vaughn Willoughby and Lilly Rae Somers; two sisters, Sanda S. Dickey and her husband, Freddy, and Sherry S. Kylander and her husband, David, all of Elon; a niece, Rita Dale Parsons; a nephew, Joshua Sarah Kylander; and his best friend, Dale Phillips of Elon. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Steve Tucker. Interment will follow at Gilliam's Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his sister, Sandra Dickey, 3376 Underwood Rd., Elon.
