Jimmy Dan Ross, 70, of Gwyn Rd. died on Monday, August 9, 2010 after a sudden illness. He was born in Alamance County to the late Joe Jasper Ross and the late Blanche Sutton Ross Somers. Dan had just celebrated 49 years of marriage to Claudette Thomas "Woman" Ross who survives. He retired from Overnite and was a truck driver for over 28 years and a lifelong farmer. Dan was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Altamahaw-Ossipee Fire Department. He was a die-hard Duke fan who loved athletics and had coached little league baseball and softball, including the Bethlehem B team. He is survived by his wife of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Douglas "Dougie" and Laurie Simpson Ross, Jeffrey Durant "Jeffro" and Nancy Lacasse Ross, Joe David "Crockett" and Yvette Bazal Ross, Jason Dan "Pooky" and Kellie Irene Ross, and John Darren "Boo" and Valerie White Ross, all of Burlington; grandchildren, David "Scooter" Ross, Stephanie Ross, Scott "Buster" Ross, Tyler "Tyler Ro" Ross, Trevor "Trev" Ross, Tara "Tootsie" Ross, Jeffrey Ross, Sammy Ross, Thomas Ross, Alan Ross, Ciara Joy "Lil Bag" Ross and Jasper Jett "Turbo" Ross; great granddaughter, Hannah Marie Ross; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Bennett and Virginia Ross, E. W. "Dub" and Alice Faye Ross, both of Burlington, Betty Warf Ross of Reidsville; and sister, Janice Williamson of Pensacola, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Paul Ross and a brother-in-law, Bennett Williamson. The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Dave Gilbert and Rev. Matt Smith with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 3625 Altamahaw Church St., Elon, NC 27244.
