Jim Collins

Mr. James Oliver Collins, 85, of Connelly Springs, NC (formally of Burlington) passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022 at his residence after a period of declining health.

Mr. Collins was born December 14, 1936 in Alamance County, a son of the late William Edgar and Ruby Lester Collins.  He served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Collins was employed for a number of years in the banking industry with Bank of America.  James was a lifelong member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church in Burlington and recently attended Gateway Bible Church in Morganton, NC.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Collins.

Surviving are his daughter, Angela Collins Byrd and husband Dr. Kerry Byrd of Connelly Springs.  Also surviving are the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Julia Kinderknecht and husband Noah, Caroline Tyrrell and husband David, Emily Byrd, Clay Byrd, Ruby Hughey and husband Jacob, Ellen Byrd, Elisabeth Byrd, Kenneth James Byrd, Kolby Byrd and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on March 17, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Harvest Baptist Church in Burlington, NC. The Harvesters Quartet will be honoring Jim with their music. Please join us in celebrating Jim's life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gateway Bible Church, 222 Believers Way, Morganton, NC 28655.
