Jill Rickman Boone, 64 of Burlington passed into Heaven on May 10, 2022 at UNC Hospitals.
Jill grew up in Gastonia, NC, the daughter of Rev. Harold and Earline Rickman, which precede her in death. After graduating high school, she traveled for 2 years with the Christian music group “Renaissance” traveling across America and Europe. She then graduated from Southern Wesleyan University and began a 27 year teaching career in Special Education in three school systems, and in each system was selected as “Teacher Of The Year.”
Upon marriage in 1983 she became a “pastor's wife”, and was an exemplary partner in ministry serving Wesleyan churches in Siler City, NC, Jacksonville, NC, Virginia Beach, VA and for the last 10 years First Wesleyan Church in Burlington. She also used her musical and vocal talents to serve as the worship director of many Christian women retreats, as well as in the Church.
Jill was a passionate, devoted follower of Christ, and her faith guided her life on a daily basis. Now, she rests in the arms of the God she loved and served.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Boone; two sons and daughters in law, Casey and Karen Biggs of Winston Salem and Dillon and Kristie Boone of Burlington; four grandchildren, Riley, Morgan, Griffin and Henry; brothers and sisters in law, Steve Rickman of Charlotte and Tim and Patty Rickman of High Point; mother- in- law Barbara Boone of Siler City, and brothers/sisters in laws Mike and Rhonda Poe of Siler City and Tony and Penny Boone of Surfside Beach, SC. She has also been blessed to be “Aunt Jill” to eight nephews and nieces and their spouses, and their twelve children. She was also preceded in death by her nephew Lee Rickman.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2pm, at First Wesleyan Church, 304 South Anthony Street in Burlington. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to the Children's Home Society of N.C., 604 Meadow Street, Greensboro NC 27405.
