Jerry Raymond Steele

Jerry served in the US Air Force and was a longtime member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church.  He retired from Burlington Industries where he worked as a supervisor for many years.  Jerry was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan.  In his younger years, he earned the title “Homerun King” while playing softball for Huffman Oil.  He also enjoyed playing golf and meticulously caring for his blackberries and grapes. 

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Cates and husband Troy; grandchildren, Blaire Willis (Lando), Ashley Brown, Alex Wrenn, Zach Cates (Kelsey); great grandchildren, Noah, Yeihlan, Xavier, Kendrick, Cameron, Coleson; sister, Judy Barnes (Rick), Linda Thompson and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Tate (Carol).  He was preceded in death by his wife, Liz; daughter, Kelly Steele; parents; sister, Carolyn Barnette and brothers-in-law, Earl Thompson and Willard Barnett.

A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023 by Mr. Billy Allen with military honors to follow.  The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
