Jerry Shields

Elon - Jerry Ladson Shields, 82, of 1341 N NC 87 Burlington, went to his eternal home on July 8th, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina on January 20th, 1937, to Ladson Mills Shields & Revalee Greenway Shields, both deceased. He served in the US Navy. He was a member of Thomas M. Holt Masonic Lodge of Graham, with 54 years served. He was a member of the Burlington Shrine Club,  a charter member of the Amran Temple of Raleigh and a member of The Battle of Alamance chapter #256 Order of The Eastern Star in Graham. He was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church. He was employed as a sales manager with both local Chrysler and Dodge dealerships. Later he retired from GKN Driveline in Mebane, with 20 yrs of service. Spending time with his family was one of his biggest joys. He also loved watching Carolina basketball, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers football.

He is survived by, his wife of 60+years, Shirley Rollins Shields. One son, Timothy D. Shields and wife Gina. Grandchildren, Lisa Parham and husband Alex of Whitsett, Scott Shields and wife Aiyana of Burlington, and Katie Shields of Burlington. One great grandson Hudson Parham, and soon to be born, great grand-daughter, baby girl Shields. Sister, Doris Ellis of Boca Raton Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Tamara Dee Shields and his parents.

His Life Remembrance Service will be conducted at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel  on Thursday July 11th @ 2pm, by Rev. David Grinnell and Rev. John Shields. The burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. The family will greet friends on Thursday prior to the service from 12:30-1:45. Other times at the home.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to everyone at Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell and to his private duty nurse, Mary Beasley, for all their compassion and care provided to him.
