Jerry Pitts, Sr.

Burlington-Jerry Edward Pitts, Sr., 80 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 47years to Tonita Guyton Churchill Pitts who survives.
Jerry was the owner and operator of Jerry E. Pitts Insurance Agency for many years and a member of the NC Reealtor's Association. He was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church and former member of the Burlington and Shallotte Moose Lodges. Jerry was an avid sportsman and a member of the NC Bear Hunters Association. He was involved in Toast Masters, Gallery Players and Edge Gym. Jerry was a Tar Heel fan and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Tonita Guyton Pitts of the home; sons, Jerry E. Pitts, Jr. and wife, Kim of Burlington, Michael Todd Pitts and wife, Lisa of Greenville, SC and Rodney Craig Pitts and wife, Tracy of Burlington; daughters, Debbie C. Wilson and husband, Lee of Burlington, Misty C. Carter of Elon, Kim Churchill of High Point, Diana Teter of the home and Twila Hundley and husband, Steve of Reidsville; twenty three grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Leroy and Margaret Miller Pitts; brother, Jacob Cameron Pitts and a sister, Connie Pickard; two grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the LVAD team at Duke University Medical Center for all their care and compassion.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 10:00 am at Holly Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Black and Dr. Gene Hunsinger with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
