Burlington Devoted husband and father, Mr. Jerry Lee Ball, 68, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 after a courageous battle with long-term illness that deeply inspired his family. He was the son of Alva and Coy Denver Ball. Jerry was a man whose thirst for knowledge led him on a rich life's journey. After marrying his wife of fifty years, Jerry served in the U.S. Army. After an honorable discharge, Jerry advanced his knowledge in the field of modern electronics and earned his private pilot's license. He then worked in the laboratory at Universal Biological in Greensboro for many years. During his middle-aged years, Jerry owned a well-known computer repair and sales service that was located in downtown Burlington. Jerry was well-known for his honorable business practices. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Isley Ball of the home; daughter, Teresa Durham of Mebane; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Pamela Ball of Burlington, Dr. David and Kim Ball of Syracuse, NY. Jerry was a devoted grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John Ball of Oxford and Aunt Tracy Lee Cannon of Burlington who helped raise him as a child. Jerry was a devoted husband and father that will be dearly missed. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gerald Collins with interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
