Jeraldine N. Griffin was born on December 12, 1931 in Dunn, NC to the late Dallas and Lucille Norris. She went home at age 90 to be with her Lord and the rest of her family on Saturday, September 24, 2022 after a long battle with dementia. She was the wife of the late Harold B. Griffin.
Jeraldine was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church. She retired from Annedeen Hosiery and helped her son, Hampton with his lawn care business. Jeraldine loved God and talked to him till the day she went to be with him. She was a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir at Burlington Pentecostal Holiness Church of Burlington. Most recently she was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church, which she attended up until she was no longer able due to her illness, Her favorite type of music was southern gospel; she was always smiling and clapping along as soon as the song would start. Though her battle with dementia took a lot from her she will always be remembered by family and close friends for her cooking for her family when she was younger, and her love for going out to eat in her older years. Jeraldine enjoyed crocheting everything from snowflakes and angels to blankets for anyone in the family. She loved completing puzzles and playing checkers with anyone who would play. Jeraldine loved being outdoors and mowing the yard as long as she was able. Most recently she will be remembered for her love of riding in a car just enjoying the ride and the scenery around her.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Cable and husband, Warren of Burlington; sons, Rev. Billy Ray Griffin and wife, Paula of Ohio, Hampton Griffin of the home. Stacy Griffin and wife, Wanda of Christiansburg, Virginia and Samuel Joel Griffin and wife, Lisa of Stratford, Texas; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Harry B. Griffin; sisters, Claudia Whittington Norris, Minnie Henry, Maude Opal Daniels and Juanita Pope and a brother, Utley Norris.
A service to celebrate Jeraldine’s life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Billy Ray Griffin with the burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the son, Hampton’s home.
