Jeanette Sheppard Johnson

Jeanette Sheppard Johnson, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  She was born in Rockingham County to the late Henry Clay Sheppard and Laura Kate Cole Sheppard.  Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 71 years, Henry C. Johnson, Jr.  She and her husband were long time residents of Orange County before moving to Burlington in 2008.

 Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.   She enjoyed keeping a lovely home, cooking wonderful food, quilting, and studying her Bible.  Above all, Jeanette cherished her family, praying for them daily.  

 She is survived by her son, Stephen Johnson (Audrey), daughter, Jan Johnson and daughter, Beverly Crabtree (Rick); four grandchildren, Jennifer Herring (Rocky), Evan Crabtree (Rebecca), Cameron Johnson (Courtney), Kristen Ward (Kyle); nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Joann Cates (Herbert).

 Preceding her in death were three brothers, Vernell Sheppard, Henry Clay Sheppard, Jr., John Billy Sheppard, and five sisters; Glenna Johnson, Beatrice Hicks, Mozelle Patoka, Sally Conklin, and Maxine Franklin.
