Frances Jeanette Brewer Ellington, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Homeplace of Burlington surrounded by her family. She was born in Chatham County to the late Alfred Thaddeus and Bessie Johnson Brewer and was married to the late E. Maynard Ellington for 61 years.
Jeanette retired as an Executive Secretary from Burlington Industries Finishing and Office Manager of Bell’s Department Store. She was a long time member of Grove Park Baptist Church, where she was a member of the SEEKERS Sunday School Class, the Adult Choir, the Merry Bells Hand Bell Choir and Melody Makers Senior Choir. Music was a major part of Jeanette’s life and a gift she used to honor the Lord. She enjoyed playing the piano and sang with her husband at weddings, funerals, and various other events. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She was an artist and painted portraits which she gave to many throughout her life. She created beautiful birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. It has been a “long goodbye”, but through these final years, Jeanette continued to encourage and comfort others.
Survivors include one son, Michael Ellington and wife, Schotsi of Saxapahaw; daughters, Donna Bullis and husband Danny of Burlington and Linda Dameron and husband Blake of Cape Canaveral, FL.; grandchildren, Brandon Bell, Lynn Bullis, and Sara Paschal; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Pauline Aldridge, Mildred Duckworth, Henry Brewer and Raymond Brewer; and her grandson, Stephane Ellington.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 28, 2019 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Marc Sanders and Rev. Rodger Roach. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff of Homeplace, especially Bonnie Thompson, for their loving care during their mother’s illness. And also thank Alamance Caswell Hospice.
